The drugs detailed here are at various stages of study. Some that have recently become commercially available are still being investigated against tumor types not included in the FDA-approved indication. The drugs are classified according to definitions introduced by the Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program of the NCI in the late 1970s:

• Group B drugs are in widespread testing by cancer centers and cooperative groups or by industry.
